February: Thank you's and Prayer requests

Our thank you's to Jesus:

*  Thank you to the generosity of several people who donated food, clothing, toys and stationery to the school this month.

*  Thank you to Rohlig-Grindrod who sponsored new laminated wood flooring in some of our classrooms.

*  Thank you to InterCape who will be sponsoring the children's lunches at after-care as from the 1st of March.

*  Thank you to Midrand Presbytarian Church who packed food packets from Stop World Hunger which make such a big difference in the lifes of our families who are really struggling and without any income.

*  Ma'am Tariro (one of our teacher's ) gave birth to a new baby girl on 14 February.  We are so grateful all went well and Mommy and baby are healthy.

Prayer requests:

*  Please pray for the teenage outreach project on Sunday, 10 March.  May the Olievenhoutbosch community be truly blessed by this wonderful project.  Please pray for everyone's safety on this day, and also that the Lord will use people to be his hands and feet.

*  We will focus this month of March on the true meaning of Easter:  the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Please pray for the children's hearts to be receptive to this message and that they will also be a light in their families and community.

Thank you to Hennopspark Primary for our lollipops! :-)

Thank you to Rohlig-Grindrod Logistics who donated laminated wood flooring to Olievenhoutbosch Christian School.  The cement floor in our classrooms are over-used and full of holes.  It also results in a lot of dust in the classrooms.  This week, Rohlig-Grindrod Logistics arranged for our floors to be put in.  Wow! What an improvement!

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for the generosity of Rohlig-Grindrod Logistics!

Our new volunteer at school, Pauline, who started with Afrikaans for the Gr.3's in the afternoon.  Here she is with Marius:

On Sunday, 4 February, we visited Midrand Presbytarian Church as the congregation were packing food packets (consisting of rice, soya and vegetables) for the school's kids.  What beautiful, friendly people!  Thank you Midrand Presbytarian Church and Reverand Chris who always make us feel so welcome and for your love and care towards the kids in Olievenhoutbosch!

Hallo  J
The New Year is here and it is with expectation that we started the year at Olievenhoutbosch Christian School with 170 children and 18 staff members.  We are excited to be the hands and feet of Jesus and to have a part in building His kingdom in Olievenhoutbosch this year.  Thank you for your contribution to the school – anything from a donation to a prayer – which is what supports us every day.  Herewith our thank you’s and prayer requests for January:

Our thank you’s to Jesus:

·        Thank you for every teacher, volunteer and child who are safely back after die December holiday.

·        Thank you to SPAR Hennopsview who donated stationery to the school for the New Year.

·        Thank you for the tinned food donation from the kids from Halfway House Primary which ensured that we were able to start handing out food parcels again for the struggling families.

·        Thank you to our new volunteer, Rose, who started with music lessons for the Gr. 2 kids on a Monday afternoon.  The money which was collected during the concert at Midrand Presbytarian Church last year were used to buy recorders and music stands for the kids.

·        As a request from our parents, we also started with Afrikaans lessons for the Gr. 4 kids this year.  What an exciting new opportunity!

Prayer requests:

·        Please pray for the improvements we want to focus on this year at the school:  a proper sports field with netball poles and soccer nets, the upgrading of some of our classrooms and more advanced computer classes for our kids.

·        Please pray that the Lord will provide for our daily needs at school, e.g. food, stationery and electricity.

·        Please still pray for the safety and protection of the teachers and learners at school every day.
